A cohort of chemical engineering students was taught five chemical engineering courses in consecutive semesters using active and cooperative learning and a variety of other methods designed to address a broad spectrum of learning styles.
Numerous academic performance measures, confidence levels, attitudes toward their instruction and their chosen field of study, and demographic variables were assessed for these students and analyzed, and the outcomes were compared with comparable results for a cohort of students taught traditionally.
