Our Biology course includes twelve compulsory practical's with lots of opportunities to carry out experiments and investigations.
The course also develops transferable skills that can be used in many degree courses. All students follow the same content and structure which includes topics such as Cells, Particles, Forces, Gas exchange and photosynthesis, Chemical reactions and Energy. Each unit of work includes a required practical to develop scientific thinking and practical skills to fully prepare students for the demands of GCSE.There is no coursework therefore students will be required to undertake 12 required practical’s that are assessed in the examination. All students will sit their exams at the end of Year 11 and will be awarded two GCSE’s in Science.Teaching takes place in specialist laboratories with state of the art equipment for practical work and to assist learning.Teaching groups are small, allowing students to take an active part in learning and to get a high level of assistance.Coursework is undertaken on a fieldtrip to a field studies centre on the Isle of Wight.Course Books and Equipment Students studying Physics now follow the Edexcel A Level course. For fee type definitions and further assistance, see the Fee Calculator Help page. You can also search our database for scholarships that are relevant to you or your desired course.
